I purchased these well over a year ago. This was my first experience with John Doe Shoes. I have worn these shoes everyday and with a semi-regular shine they essentially still look brand new. They were comfortable after a half dozen strolls. I honestly have no criticism to share. Wearing a quality made shoe brings me joy every morning when take out my shoe trees and lace them up. I'll be buy another pair with leather soles and will likely try out a pair of casual boots. Thanks, JDS!

Afterba two week use the laces are broken. Overall it's a good shoe but to have to be spending more on it because the laces are not good it's not acceptable.

I love everything about the shoes except the fit. While the toe box is a perfect size, the heel area is too wide. To make the shoes to fit reasonably snuggly, I have had to glue on several layers of padding inside the shoes on sides of the heel area. I have never had this issue with other brands. With the adjustments, they are great shoes. I hope that in the future, you can make the shoes narrower in the heel.

I ordered these in May 2017, after an email exchange with the company regarding availability of width for my feet (based on my question, they recommended a width that was not an option on the site - they happened to have stock of the shoes at the size/width I wanted, but were otherwise able to make a pair for me in 2-3 weeks). I received the shoes in Singapore in about a week's time. The fit was good. I have worn the shoes about twice a week since getting them, except for a few days of everyday wear when I wore them for an overseas business trip (with fair amount of walking and exposure to the elements). The shoes have not creased much, and have been polished only one time. On the leather soles, my preference initially was that they would not have been painted black, since the paint on the forepart would be gone once the shoes are used. However, I now appreciate it as the heels have an all rubber top piece (black) and so it is a continuous black color from the heel to where the sole gets scruffed - I now think it is a somewhat elegant two-toned look between the forepart and backpart of the soles. (The black paint might have slightly soiled my carpet though, so one might want to take care of when to wear them on light colored carpets.) Subsequent to this first pair from John Doe Shoes, I ordered a second pair of black pebbled grain Bennington oxfords - these have been taken off the website as I got the last pair (again, emails exchanged with the company on whether I could get a pair my width - they didn't have any more stock of the black pebble grain, so they could not make any more..). I really liked the look of the shoes on the website, and so took the chance - they arrived in about a week, and were snug but fit. I have not used the shoes yet, but I like the unique look of the pebble grain brogues very much. About the shoe laces, the first pair and second pair came in laces of different lengths - the laces on the first pair were very long (90cm) and those on the second pair were just good (60cm).

I am, frankly, delighted with my cap toe oxfords. The construction is solid, the fit is true-to-size, and the leather is supple and clearly of high quality. I plan to buy a brown pair, and to exposure the suede derbys.

Wore it for the first time this past weekend and love it. A bit heavy, but the quality of the leather is evident. Great product!

The shoes are well made, very solid, and nicely finished. The company was also very helpful as I tried to figure out my size and ended up ordering two different sizes and returning one. Customer service was top notch. Takes a bit to break them, probably because of the stronger materials than most.

I Live in Canada and finding good-quality Goodyear shoes here is difficult. I used to go though shoes on an annual (sometimes semi-annual) basis until I started buying Goodyear shoes. The John Doe Bonucci Oxfords was the first pair of Goodyear shoes I bought, more than two years ago. Since then, I have bought more expensive Goodyear shoes (Florsheim Imperial, Meermin and Allen Edmonds). My JD black Bonucci Oxfords are one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I own and my go-to shoes for when I want to look both professional and being most comfortable. Shoes that are twice as expensive do not deliver as much in these two fronts. So, why not 5 stars, then? As described by other reviewers, even though the materials and the fitting are top-notch, the attention to detail in and quality in constructing my Bonucci Oxfords could have been better. In one of my shoes, for example, the joints in the black leather in the upper (around the lace-up area) do not go all the way through (there is a gap between the pieces of black leather), allowing some of the brown leather from the inside to be noticeable. It is a small imperfection and not a big deal, but my other more expensive shoes do not have small quality issues of this sort. Another example is that in my 2014 JD Bonucci models, the eyelets for the laces lacked metal rings that would protect the leather in the upper from the pressure exerted by the laces. This makes me worry that the upper around the eyelets may fail in the future. Florsheim, Meermin and Allen Edmonds make this metal eyelet rings standard in their Goodyear shoes to increase durability. All in all, I love my JD black Bonucci Oxfords and I'm happy I gave them a try two years ago. I look forward to many more years of continue enjoyment of them and to go back to trying this brand in the future.

These shoes are just great! They are as comfortable as possible for oxfords, the leather eh very sturdy, so is are the soles. I like the design, but the laces are kinda of poor quality, with every shining, you have to take them off, that is degrading them quicker than I thought. Overall these shoes are gorgeous are of very good quality, I definitely recommend buying them OBS: I love their smell of new shoes.

Now, where do I start from? Spent about 2 weeks researching shoes online. Finally stumbled on a forum thread talking about John Doe Shoes, and decided to visit the website. The customer service I received is superb. All my inquiries were promptly responded to and resolved. Shipping was also very fast. In fact, John Doe Shoes went out of their way to meet my stringent shipping requirements. Now to the shoes. The shoes are fabulous. Very well made. Great attention to detail. These are the finest shoes I have owned. I did hours of research, and the only thing close costs hundreds more. I now own two pairs of John Doe shoes, and I look forward to handing them down to my son when he grows up.

These shoes are constructed very well. They arrived on time and look good. Mine had 1 small defect. Stitching on top outside on 1 shoe was short a few stitches and thread was hanging. The soles have a full rubber cap and not half cut like a more high end shoe. I am still breaking them in but so far I am happy with my purchase.

Good product. As far as quality it is exactly as advertised. Good materials and construction. A little rounder in the toe, but with my wide feet that is exactly what I need. The only imperfection is in the lace up area a little brown leather is showning on one of the shoes. This is a very minor manufacturing defect, but it does stop me from giving the shoes a perfect score. That being said, I will by from them again.

My Bonucci oxfords were comfortable right out of the box, and the leather quality and styling are reminiscent of decidedly more expensive shoes. I've just received them, so I can't speak to their durability; I'll follow up once there's more of a track record. But based on what I've seen so far, I'd definitely buy another pair in the future.

Hello. Received a pair of the Bonucci Calf Oxfords and I am pleased. Now, these are my first pair of "nice" dress shoes. By nice I mean shoes that can be resoled and not below $100 in price for the pair. From my point of view they are a great value for the price of a sub $200 dress shoe. The Delivery: Didn't take but 6 business days for my order of shoes to reach my door step. Also, using UPS allowed me to follow the package along the way, which was neat to see it start in Mexico City and work it's way to Florida. I found the amount of time for free shipping to be acceptable. The Fit: Ordered 11.5 size and the fit is close to other shoes I have that are dress shoes of the same size. The Quality: The leather is of good quality and smells marvelous. Some of the stitching isn't the best, such as the sewn section for the tongue at the base of the laces. I think that seam shouldn't be visible on a pair of dress Oxfords, but the seam is not that noticeable overall. Also, there is a bit of a dimple at the area where the toe cap is attached to the rest of the leather upper on the right shoe. Not terrible, but still noticeable and I'm not sure if this dimple that curves all the way around the toe cap will get worse. I suspect not and I can live with what is there. Overall Look: So far, I'm really impressed, especially given the price when compared to other proper dress shoes out there. Do I plan to purchase another pair ever: So far yes I am and I will recommend John Doe Shoes to my friends.

I did not expect fancy packaging. It was on time, and it good condition. Anyone who has some decent knowledge of shoes could tell from picking them up that these are quality, and the solidness of the Goodyear welt is clear. The shoes are quite nice, but as I went for the Black Box Calf Bonucci, they are classic, simple, and properly conservative. The leather is very good. There are some insignificant detail issues that even a snob should have no concern with. So these are some great feeling and great looking shoes that are clearly well made. Time will tell regarding wear so I will write another review in time. Right now, I am happy.

The shoes look great, very classic style, I think they will last my husband a long time. I can't comment on the fit as I have yet to give them to him (they are a birthday gift). Overall, very nice product
